Researchers believe that this disease may be caused by the following:

  • Hereditary factors;
  • Use of prescribed drugs;
  • Alcohol or illegal substances during pregnancy;
  • Viral infection during pregnancy;
  • Sugar diabetic patient.


Signs of congenital heart defect in newborns include:

  • Bluish lips, skin, fingers, and toes;
  • Chest pain, breathlessness or trouble breathing;
  • Feeding difficulties;
  • Low birth weight and delayed growth.
Sometimes the symptoms may delay and show when a child is about a year or older. These delayed symptoms are abnormal heart rhythms, dizziness, struggle to breathe, fainting, swelling and fatigue.
