Three-year-old Ilario Herschell Arries from Uitenhage and eight-year-old Achuma Tshalana from Mount Frere who were operated on to fix holes in their hearts at Busamed Private Hospital in Modderfontein Johannesburg, Gauteng, are back on the last week of March.
The operations were made possible by Pelo Foundation, a non-profit organisation that raises funds and creates awareness about conditions of children living with n serious need of heart treatment and surgeries.
Achuma’s mother, Khanyo Tshalana, said. “I am very excited that my boy received the heart surgery, his health has improved, tremendously. We are doing well.”
She added: “You can’t believe that he returned to school three weeks after the operation. Before, he had a problem of becoming tired when he played with other children.”
